Clinic Courses

 

RV Weight & Tire Safety – (Walter Cannon) (this class is required to receive Driving Program certificate).This safety course will provide RVers with the knowledge required to assure that their RV is operated within safety limitations. Information is designed to assist owners in managing their existing RV weights as well as purchasing the correct RV to match their personal needs will be provided. The tire portion of the seminar relates to maintenance and care of tires for optimum safety and durability. Tire pressure and proper inflation are covered in depth. The benefits of having the RV weighed by wheel position, a service offered by RVSEF, will be discussed.

 

RV Driving Part I – (Motorhomes/Towables, classroom only) – (Dennis Hill) This class is intended for the person who might want to fine tune their motorhome and towables driving skills to the one that might be intimated by the driving of a motorhome or the aspects of towing a trailer or 5th wheel. Class will explain the difference in driving different sizes of motorhomes, different types of towables, what to expect from your mirrors and how to set them and much more. This will help those individuals that know they need to learn to drive that motorhome, but are afraid to. This course is for both the inexperienced and experienced RVer. (This class is required to receive Driving Program certificate)

 

RV Driving II (classroom only) – (Walter Cannon) Part I and Part II classes are required to receive Driving Program certificate. This program qualifies for insurance discounts through most major RV insurers. Covering basic safe RV operation, preparation, knowing your vehicle and planning your trip, knowing your abilities, driving basics, braking, and mountain driving

 

Driving an RV with Air Brakes – (Dennis Hill) Learn what a driver should know about driving with air brakes. You will learn how the air system functions and their safety features. Topics will include the air compressor, gauges, parking, emergency brakes, and low air warning devices, and checking for leaks. This is a non-technical course for new owners and those who are considering the purchase of an RV unit with air brakes.

 

Road Use Laws – (Walter Cannon) Overview of current Road Use Laws and how they impact your RV use

 

Matching Trucks and Trailers – (Walter Cannon) Designed to give consumers a better understanding of the language used by both truck and trailer manufacturers. This class gives consumers a better understanding of truck ratings, trailer ratings, and how to match the proper truck to trailer while staying within ratings, for the safest possible travel, and most enjoyment from the RVing experience.

 

Learn How to Read Your Weighing Report – (Walter Cannon) Having your RV weighed by individual wheels position is important in managing your RV weight and establishing tire pressure for your unit. Learn what the numbers mean on the weighing report you receive from RVSEF

 

Carbon Monoxide – (Bunzer/Cannon) This class will focus on the dangers of carbon monoxide poisonings as well as ways you can prevent becoming a victim. Learn important information about you carbon monoxide detector and the maintenance of the detector.

 

Understanding the RV Industry – (Bruce Hopkins) This class focuses on RVIA Standards and Education and what it means to consumers.

 

Hitch Systems for 5th Wheels & Travel Trailers & Brake controllers – (Cequent) The numerous options available when it comes to selecting a hitch system. This class covers the basics of what is currently available and information on how to select the best system for your needs, as we as proper hitching techniques. This course also lays out the different types of brake controllers and how they function. Learn how each works and how to adjust them properly.

 

Chassis (Workhorse chassis) – Which one is best for you?  Learn about operation, maintenance, performance, longevity, fuel consumption, and cost for these engines/chassis options.

 

Towing with a Motorhome – (Blue Ox) This is a hands-on class designed to further educate RVers on the fundamentals of towing a car behind their motorhome, as well as the proper techniques for hooking and unhooking a car from a motorhome.

 

Supplemental Braking for Motorhomes – (US Gear) Learn about the various choices in braking systems and legal requirements for brakes on your towed vehicle

 

Enhanced Steering Controls (Blue Ox) – Learn about steering control systems and how they can enhance your travels. How they reduce driver fatigue, minimize side wind effects and increase safety during tire blow out.

 

Towable Braking & Suspension Systems – (Gary Motley) This class will focus on the design on towable chassis and brakes as well as maintenance.

 

General RV Maintenance – (Gary Motley & Gary Bunzer) This class will focus on water leak prevention, slide out maintenance, hydraulic leveler maintenance and more.

 

RV 110 Electrical Systems/ RV 12 volt Electrical Systems – (Gary Motley) This is broken into 2 classes, 1- 110 System and 2- 12Volt system  Introduction to basic electrical systems in your RV, helping you understand 12-volt and 120 volt power systems in RVs. Discussion of batteries, converters, inverters, generators and solar systems and how they work to power your RV, as well as maintaining your deep cycle batteries.

 

RV Propane System – (Gary Motley) Overview of propane and your RV propane system. Learn how to properly and safely handle propane. Learn what you need to know about testing and maintaining your propane system.

 

RV Water Systems – (Gary Bunzer, The RV Doctor) This is broken down into 2 classes, 1-RV Fresh Water systems and 2- RV Waste Water systems. These classes will discuss how the systems work together including pumps, plumbing, filters, pressure regulators, tanks, and deodorants/chemical. Will also cover sanitizing and winterization.

 

RV Appliances – (Gary Bunzer, The RV Doctor) Learn the basic operation of your refrigerators, ovens, ranges, water heaters and furnaces. Learn how to prevent problems with regular maintenance.

 

Generator Maintenance – (Gary Bunzer) This class covers proper operation and maintenance of your generator. What you need to know to insure your generator operates properly when needed.

 

Fire & Life Safety – (Mac McCoy) Learn the causes of most fires and how to prevent them. Learn how to check, test, and use your fire extinguisher. Learn about different types of fire extinguishers, such as: dry powder, non-toxic, biodegradable, engine compartment and refrigerator compartment extinguishing systems. You will also learn about Smoke, LPG, and CO detectors, driving with propane, how to maintain and use escape hatch/window. There will be a live-fire portion of the seminar where attendees will have the opportunity to fight a fire with various types of fire extinguishers.

 

RV Financing (Randy Biles) This class will focus on financing options available to you today.

 

What you should expect from your dealer (Randy Biles) This class will focus on the realistic expectation from your dealer. It will better inform you about how RV dealerships operate and the differences between RV and automobile dealerships.

 

RV Insurance – (Lev Vaysman) Become a more informed consumer about RV insurance. Learn the need for Specialized RV Insurance and their features and benefits. Common Myths of RV Insurance and Safety/Maintenance Tips to help avoid Insurance Claims

 

RV Insurance – (FCIS) From RV to personal insurance this class discusses coverage you need to feel at home on the road. This class will help you become a more informed consumer about your RV insurance product.

 

Technical & Roadside Assistance (Ed Thor) Understanding RV roadside assistance and how it differs from your auto assistance programs. Learn how these programs can give you piece of mind while you travel, including emergency road services and available RV service and maintenance assistance.

 

Understanding Warranties & Extended Warranties (Randy Biles) This class will focus types of warranties available and what they cover.

 

Inspecting an RV for Purchase (Gary Motley) Learn what you need to look for when buying a RV. This class is of the utmost importance to those looking to buy a used RV or a RV from a manufacturer no longer in business.

 

Taking Proper Delivery of Your Unit (Gary Motley) Know what to look for when you take delivery of your unit

 

Cleaning & Protecting Your RV (Ken Neuman) Learn the proper care and maintenance of the various surfaces on your RV. Learn tips and techniques on how to maintain your RVs appearances with reasonable ease. Learn the facts and fallacies on the proper care and cleaning.

 

Emotional Aspects of the Full-timing Decision (Howard Payne) This class is about what to expect from your heart as you announce your plans to full-time, prepare to full-time, transition to full-timing, and even after you hit the road. Very few seminars deal with this issue, but everyone goes through some surprises, but normal, feelings in the process.

 

What Does It Coast to Full-time? (Howard Payne) The cost is so important, but it is not easy to find real information on the subject. We’ll show you some real numbers and how you can adjust those numbers for your planned lifestyle.

 

Buying An RV – Pros, Cons, & Must Haves (Howard Payne) This class is about the pros and cons of the types of RVs in a full-timing lifestyle. In addition, we suggest features to look for that we consider “must haves” in any full-timing rig

 

Packing Your RV for Full-timing (Howard Payne) This class includes a discussion of what to pack, how to use storage space, and how your RV weight ratings figure into what you bring for life on the road

 

No Right Way to Full-time- Evaluating the Options (Howard Payne) In this class we emphasize there is no “right way” to full-time. We explore many of the different ways people live the full-timing lifestyle and provide some insight into what might work best for you.

 

Working On the Road (Howard Payne) A lot of information is in this class, Why work on the road? What are your options for working on the road? What types of jobs might you find? How do you find jobs? How do paid jobs compare to volunteer jobs? What are the tax implications of workamping?

 

Choosing Campgrounds/RV Parks (Howard Payne) This class includes tips on finding campgrounds and RV parks that fit your full-timing lifestyles

 

Boondocking/Solar (Howard Payne) In this class, we will lay out the basics of Boondocking. We talk about what you might need for extended Boondocking and touch on solar/battery set-ups. We also discuss holding tank management and other aspects of parking without hook-ups.

 

Using GPS Systems & Software for Navigation & Fun - (Jim & Chris Guld)  Understanding the different devices available, dashboard, hand-held, & USB devices for your computer

 

Every RVer Needs a Blog – (Jim & Chris Guld) A quick and easy website to post your photos and tales of your travels. All your family & friends can follow along.

 

All About Email on the Road – (Jim & Chris Guld) Understanding Email addresses, incoming and outgoing servers. Which email provider to use and how to connect from the road?

 

Get Away & Stay Connected– (Jim & Chris Guld) Learn about high speed internet access at your favorite RV parks and on the road across the country. This class will focus on WiFi, and will also cover satellite and cellular technology for RVers.
